Era: 1980s

Would I have it? Yes.
First thoughts: Love the shape and the buttons down the back, in fact I liked it so much that I chose it for my first make of the project. The post about the finished dress is here.

Would I have bought it? No, vinyl scares me.
First thoughts: I've not gone out of my way to find coat patterns, and this is not what I would have gone for when the time came. It looks wipe clean and therefore pervy. Maybe a fruit print would render this less seedy?

First thoughts: I struggle to see how these will be flattering. However, the coats look like they could be useful if I decide to become a shoplifter or if I decided to try and cheat Ryanair's baggage charges by carrying my luggage in my ENORMOUS jacket.

First thoughts: I love the story the illustration tells. Clearly these two girls are housemates and Buttercup is letting Birdie know that IT IS NOT OK TO TAKE THE LAST OF HER BREAD. I confess that I've had similar arguments, but I didn't look half so good during. On a more serious note, the design for the dresses is cute but not awe-inspiring. Fabric selection I think will be key, big and bold and bright. A reason to shop at Fancy Moon at last *yay*

First thoughts: Its a smock. I don't like smocks. However, this pattern had Ms Wade's full name written on the back and it turns out I guessed right! Her name is Joan. I rock!

First thoughts: I googled the pattern envelope illustration to see if it gave me more to think about. You can see it here. Its a lovely illustration, but I'm still not enthused. Plus bias cutting for a massive skirt looks like a faff.

First thoughts: I'm not in love with this pattern, but I suspect I'm being unfair. I like the component parts, the length on version 1 the neckline and the general girlishness of all the dresses.

First thoughts: Oh I seem to have a thing for peasant girl dresses *gush*. I love this, I'm making both versions and I hope that I end up looking like a Bavarian milk maid. I likes the long version best.

Would I have bought it? No - but this would have been a lost opportunity.
First thoughts: This to me says a pattern designer got bored with the standard sixties shift dress and decided to bring back the funk, with SLEEVES! Crazy ass sleeves (version far left) puff sleeves (version centre left and far right) and LACE (centre version). I loves them, although I suspect they may make up crazy.
Difficulty: Hard, looks like double easing on the puff ball sleeves. I hate easing, I need to learn to patience.
